- Personality: Calm, observant, practical, determined, seeks independence and a peaceful life. Slightly sarcastic/wry inner monologue. Not overly emotional, but capable of irritation, relief, curiosity, assertiveness, and deep empathy. Values self-sufficiency and friendship. Protective of her home and those she cares about. Perceptive and able to understand complex social dynamics. Has romantic feelings for Falco.
- Abilities: Has an aptitude for healing magic, confirmed by the Trial of Aptitude. Learns quickly, good at problem-solving (e.g., slime hunting method, mirroring healing). Can use basic magic for everyday tasks (water, toilet). Expanding skills to include cooking and herb gathering. Possesses a unique ability to detect ailments with minimal magic and heal with high efficiency. Capable of collaborative healing, combining magic and shared memories with other healers. - Falco:
- Age: 50 (appears younger due to long lifespan). Becomes older in the epilogue.
- Occupation: Hunter, specifically the winter guardian of the northern forest. Highly skilled, one of the best in Deep Forest. One of the three heroes of the Northern Town. Known as the "Black Wolf."
- Personality: Initially carefree and a bit of a womanizer. Becomes surprisingly paternal and protective of Shouko. Enjoys teasing her, but genuinely cares for her well-being. Prideful about his skills, but also has a vulnerable side and lacks confidence in emotional matters. Struggles with his past and his place in the town, particularly his relationship with his mother. Unable to effectively communicate his feelings or set boundaries with his mother. Begins to show signs of recognizing his romantic feelings for Shouko.
- Appearance: Messy black hair, bright brown eyes, rugged but handsome. Well-built and strong.
- Key Relationships:
- Shouko: His ward, he develops a strong attachment to her, bordering on dependence. In love with her.
- Leon: His long-time friend and fellow bachelor.
- Sain: Respects him, but also seems intimidated by his authority.
- Lyla: His estranged mother.
- Haru: Member of his adventuring group.
- Goals: Achieved: Initially just to do his job and live comfortably. His goals shift to include raising Shouko and keeping her safe, even struggling with the idea of her independence. Future goal: To have a romantic relationship with Shouko.
- Leon:
- Age: Unspecified, but implied to be around Falco's age (adult, experienced). Becomes older in the epilogue.
- Occupation: Transports goods for the guild. Former hunter, injured his leg (now healed by Shouko). One of the three heroes of the Northern Town. Known as the "Golden Wolf".
- Personality: Practical, grounded, kind, and supportive. Acts as a voice of reason and a link to the wider world. Enjoys teasing Falco. Now seeks to create a new hunting party and a fresh start. Falls in love with Haru.

- Occupation: High Priest of the Order of the Goddess of Creation (highest-ranking member of the church in Deep Forest). Also referred to as Master Healer, indicating his superior healing skill.
- Personality: Wise, observant, kind, and perceptive. Concerned with proper care for children. A figure of authority, but approachable. Possesses a mischievous side.
- Appearance: Larger than Falco and Leon, blonde hair. Dressed in robes appropriate for his position. Physically sturdy.
- Key Relationships:
- Shouko: Recognizes her potential and offers guidance. Fills a grandfatherly role.
- Falco: Respects him, but also sees his flaws and tries to guide him.
- Leon: Is a respected friend.
- Goals: To uphold the teachings of the church, guide those with healing abilities, and ensure the well-being of children.
- Gina:
- Age: Around 100 years old (considered her prime).
- Occupation: Cook at the town tavern and owner of the inn.
- Personality: Kind, mature, and skilled in cooking. Offers Shouko an apprenticeship. Dislikes Lyla and is protective of Falco.

- Role: The deity who reincarnated Shouko and the others. Implied to be amused by the situation and to be subtly intervening. Provides the "reservoir" of energy used for healing magic.
- Personality: Somewhat detached, but not malicious. Sees humans as interesting, but also flawed.
- The Other Two People from the Train:
- A man that wanted to be a farmer. He will appear in the plains.
- A women who wanted to be strong. She will appear in the Lakes. Now known as Haru.
- Cain:
- A boy from the town. Initially antagonistic towards Shou.
- Aura:
- A girl from the town, slightly older than Shouko. Becomes friendly with Shouko. Suffers a severe injury from a slime, losing her hair and scarring her face. Recovers with the help of Shouko and Alfie's collaborative healing.
- Jene & Bival:
- Two hunters, friends with Falco and Leon. Blonde hair, blue-green eyes. Went to the marshes instead of the Northern Forest during the winter.
- Gaius:
- A hunter with a large scar across his face. Sandy hair, gray eyes. Had a severe knee injury that Shouko healed. Respected in the town. One of the three heroes of the Northern Town. Coined the name for Falco and Leon's group.
- Lyla:
- Falco's mother. A strong-willed, self-centered, and manipulative hunter. She abandoned Falco at 15. Traveling with Dred, a magician from the Lakes. Golden hair, sky-blue eyes.
- Alfie:
- A young apprentice healer, close to Shouko's age. Works alongside her and shares a close friendship with her and Aura. In love with Aura.
- Rick:
- An apprentice healer (17 years old) training at the church.
- Gale:
- A burly hunter from Iwadou, around Gaius' age. Golden hair and green eyes. Seems to be a leader or point of contact for the Iwadou hunters.
- Bianca:
- Leon's former lover. Wants to rekindle their relationship and rejoin their old hunting party, but Leon refuses.
- Flore:
- A woman who was Falco's girlfriend the previous year. Wants to resume their relationship, but Falco rejects her.

- Aura's mother
- Dred:
- A magician from the Lakes region, traveling with Lyla. Known as "The Calamity Magician" and "Flame Magician." Initially dismissive of Shouko, but becomes interested in her practical approach to magic. Quiet and seemingly indifferent, but observant and quick to learn. Green hair, violet eyes.
- Haru:
- A black haired girl, found in the lakes. The other women that got reincarnated. Becomes the strongest magician. In love with Leon. Real name Miharu.
- The Reincarnated Man in the Plains:** Another person reincarnated from Earth, similar to Shouko and Haru. His actions have led to political instability and potential conflict.
- The Unnamed Healer: A healer in the Lakes region who recognizes the injustice of Haru's situation and takes steps to protect her. Has past training in Deep Forest and connections to the Rock Caverns.

- Trial of Aptitude: A test given to children (usually around age 7) to determine their magical abilities and guide them to appropriate training.
- Deep Forest: The northern region, focused on hunting. Where Shouko and Falco live.
- Plains: The southern region, focused on agriculture.
- Lakes: The eastern region, focused on academics and magic.
- Mountains: The western region, focused on mining.

- Magic Stones: Left behind by defeated monsters (like slimes), used as a source of energy and can be sold.

- Lizards: Small monsters that drain body heat. Edible, with a chicken-like flavor. Their magic stones are worth the same as slimes (500 gil). Found in the Northern Forest.
- Hunter's Guild: One of several guilds in the town. Offers apprenticeships, provides resources (pouches, belts, potions), and manages hunter activities.
- Apprentice Hunter: A trainee hunter. Receives a pouch, belt, and access to resources from the guild. Expected to perform tasks like gathering herbs and hunting slimes.
- Iwadou: A nation of mining, supplying the continent with metal. Home to many monsters, especially the Black Rock Lizards.
- Nordam: A border town between Deep Forest and Iwadou, located at the base of the mountain range.
- Black Rock Lizards: Monsters that proliferate in massive numbers in Iwadou during July, posing a threat to neighboring regions.
- Red-Winged Saurus: Large, dragon-like monsters with wings. A rare and dangerous threat. Three attacked the Northern Town 30 years ago, causing significant damage.
- Star-Welcoming Festival: A festival mentioned in passing, suggesting a recurring event in the town's culture.
- Rock Caverns: Mentioned as another area.
- Black Wolf:** Apparently Falco's nickname or title among the hunters, signifying his skill and perhaps his solitary nature.

- The Black Wolves Led by the Golden Wolf (also known as The Golden Wolf's Company or Those Black Ones): The name given to the group consisting of Falco (Black Wolf), Leon (Golden Wolf), Shouko, and Haru.
- Magic Academy: An institution in the Lakes region focused on the study and development of magic. Prioritizes powerful offensive magic (fire, water, wind, light).
